From some communications I have recently received from my son-in-law Mr Wilberforce Wilson Surveyor General of Hong Kong, I learn with regret that serious differences have arisen between that gentleman and his Excellency the Governor of Hong Kong, which have led to the passing of a Resolution in Council to the effect that Mr. Wilson's continuance in office was inexpedient to the public interest. A Copy of which Resolution together with other papers has, I am informed, been forwarded to the Home Office.
I am informed by Mr. Milson
that these differences have arisen mainly from the Conduct of the Assistant Surveyor General recently appointed, who has not only refused to act under the instructions...
